Funding helped enable a mission trip by over 100 AiA volunteers. The volunteer mission was to train and assist local churches in Brazilian communities to establish their own sports ministry programs. These programs are built around the AiA sports-evangelism model. The attraction of sporting events draws crowds of participants and spectators providing opportunities for both group and on-on-one evangelism.
This project is intended to expand AiA activities in the country of Laos. Although a communist country, AiA has a established a legal presence in the country through sports. Although facing many challenges, AiA will attempt to expand its effort in Laos and nearby countries.
The AiA ministry in Lebanon has been growing significantly although the majority of the Lebonese population is Muslim. They are trusting God will now use them to expand the AiA ministry to other Muslim countries in the region.
This project will focus AiA efforts in 4 African countries that desperately need a boost out of spiritual depression linked to the COVID pandemic on top of other serious social/economic problems. The project will train and equip hundreds of AiA staff and volunteers who will then take the Good News to hurting communities through sports evangelism. This AiA effort will also partner with and help strengthen local churches to continue sports ministry programs within their communities.
AiA leadership continues to move its worldwide ministry effort toward a strategic model reflecting what has been tried and proven most effective in sports evangelism. This model focuses on greater use of partnerships with local Christian churches/groups in the targeted area vice AiA solo efforts. These partnerships have resulted in increased outreach and faster growth of AiA infrastructure within the targeted area. They also enable better long-term discipleship and relational follow-up after each AiA sports project. Funding was also provided this year to assist in the ongoing effort to re-orient and re-train AiA staff worldwide toward implementing this new strategic model for more effective AiA ministry.
