2014 Projects
Provided funding for the purchase of training materials and sports equipment to be used by the AIA team in South Central East Asia. There are 12 AIA trainers, working with local seminary students and house church leaders using sports ministry reaching 10 villages in the region.
Provided the remainder of funding needed to complete the purchase of a multipurpose sports court that will aid the local church in Ulan Baatar. In partnership with AIA , this will serve as an outreach to children in the area who have a critical need for a safe place to play -- and hear the gospel.
This project began in Barcelona as an AIA partnership with seven local churches starting sports ministries. It has spread to nine other churches in the Canary Islands, Madrid, Seville, and Malaga. The funds given provide training materials and equipment needed to support and start new sports ministries in other churches throughout Spain.
Funds were provided to start AIA soccer “academies” in two cities in Egypt. This includes discipleship training for coaches, salaries and sports equipment.
Below is a sample of feedback from Egypt:
“. . . he (Rex) told me that he had recently talked with a new coach about starting an academy but he didn’t have the money to do it. The coach said that he would sell the family’s four cows. (Serious!!) Rex said no, just pray. The next day, I emailed the news about the grant!! He immediately called the coach and they rejoiced and cried together!!!"
NOTE: Rex’s name was changed to protect his identity. The coach's offer to sell his four cows was the equivalent of liquidating his family's assets and livelihood.
